What fear makes them do: the timeline. #TheyAreAfraid
Who is afraid of results everyone can see? #TheyAreAfraid
  1. Ten governors elected on other parties’ tickets crossed into the APC: Delta, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, Taraba, Plateau, Kano, Adamawa and Zamfara. Between April 2025 and March 2026 the APC went from 21 to 31 of 36 states, all by defection.

  2. The elected governor, deputy and assembly of Rivers State were suspended for six months. The governor joined the APC in December 2025.

  3. Asked if Nigeria was becoming a one-party state, the APC chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, said: “If a one-party state is a wish and blessing to Nigeria, then so be it.”

  4. Thirteen people arrested at a peaceful protest in Abuja. A critic was later charged over a post about the president and barred by the court from “inciting the public against Tinubu”.

  5. The Senate had already rejected mandatory real-time electronic transmission of results. In a chaotic session, the House rescinded its own stronger clause by voice vote. Opposition members said the “nays” were louder and walked out. Civil society protested outside the National Assembly. The new law lets officials fall back to manual collation.

  6. The Electoral Act 2026 was signed on 18 February. Eight days later INEC moved the presidential election forward to 16 January 2027, the first January presidential election. INEC said the change avoided Ramadan and met the new law’s timelines. Opposition parties said the compressed timetable made fielding candidates “almost impossible”.

  7. A former APC governor, now in the opposition, was detained and questioned for days by the EFCC, ICPC and DSS.

  8. With 88 of 109 senators, the APC now holds more than the two-thirds needed to change the constitution.

  9. Ten days before the Osun election, the EFCC froze the state government’s account. After public outcry, the president ordered it unfrozen the next day.

  10. The minister suspended over a ₦585 million payment memo, not charged and denying wrongdoing, was named to the APC’s 2027 campaign council.

Their biggest fear

Electoral reform

In 2023 the results portal failed on election day, a quarter of result forms were missing when the winner was declared, and the Supreme Court said real-time upload was not mandatory.

Nigerians asked for one fix: make INEC send every polling unit result electronically, in real time, where everyone can see it. In February 2026 the National Assembly, where the APC holds a supermajority, refused to make it real-time and kept a manual fallback. Uploading is still the law: a Presiding Officer who wilfully refuses to upload commits a crime (Electoral Act 2026, section 60(6)). Record it and report it.

Ask yourself: who is afraid of results that everyone can see the moment they are counted? Who gains when results cannot be seen until they reach the collation centre?

What Nigerians asked for
What they passed
Mandatory real-time electronic transmission of every polling unit result
Electronic transmission with a fallback to manual collation
A recorded, clause-by-clause vote
A voice vote the opposition says they lost, then a walkout
Time to prepare for a fair election
The election moved to January, eight days after the law was signed

So we will do it ourselves. Every voter is a portal. Snap every result sheet at the polling unit, and follow it to the ward and LGA. The Osun Script →

Who is afraid of real-time results? Ask who gains when results can’t be seen. #TheyAreAfraid

They voted down real-time transmission. So every voter becomes the portal. Snap the result sheet.

They said
President Bola Tinubu is determined to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, no matter the cost to democracy.

A party that is winning does not need a one-party state. Only a party that is afraid of losing does.

10 governors bought. A state’s accounts frozen before its election. The election date moved. This is what fear looks like.
