Things got harder.
Their jet got bigger.
They told you to sacrifice. Here is what they sacrificed.

A bill for your grandchildren
Thirteen times bigger in naira. In dollars it almost doubled, from $65 billion to $121 billion, because the naira fell. In the first nine months of 2025, two-thirds of federal revenue went on debt service.
Divide that debt by every Nigerian alive and each person owes about ₦702,000. The baby born today in Aba or Katsina already owes it.
Every Nigerian now carries about ₦702,000 of government debt. Even the baby born this morning.
They emptied the rainy-day account
Oil sold above the budget price for years. Nothing was saved.
In 2015 the country’s oil savings held $2.1 billion. In August 2025 it held $535,823. Who spent our savings?
Twelve years of “fighting” it
Not one point of progress. Nigeria fell from 136th to 142nd.
In 2023 the Senate President announced that money had been sent to senators’ accounts “to enjoy your holiday.” Then he changed it to “prayers.”
The minister in charge of helping the poor was suspended in January 2024 over a memo directing ₦585 million into an official’s private account. She denies wrongdoing, the EFCC probe is unresolved and she has not been charged. In August 2026 she was named to the APC’s 2027 campaign council.
In 2025 lawmakers inserted 11,122 projects worth ₦6.93 trillion into the budget, according to BudgIT.
Corruption score in 2015: 26. Corruption score in 2025: 26. Twelve years of “fighting corruption.” Nothing moved except their bank balances.
Dem say make we tighten belt. Na dem get the jet. Na we get the belt.
